Christmas Party with Russian Immigrant Jews 12/21/20

Russian immigrant Jews who are studying the Bible with us do not know much about Christmas because they lived in a communist system. With the collapse of the Soviet Union a lot of missionaries came in around 1990, handing out the Bible and planting a church. Valeria met Jesus at that time and she made Aliyah to Israel and became an evangelist. The seed planted by her is growing now. They didn't know much about Christmas, so we decided to share the Christmas of Jesus and make a Christmas card by hand. We prepared meals and Christmas gifts for the Christmas party. A 70-year-old lady named Diana said she was happy to spend the first time on a holiday with her family after making aliyah to Israel. We felt very touched. We are praying for them more to know the love of Jesus abundantly and to rest and grow in Him. Every year, we used to make to give a Christmas card to Jesus by hand in our church. Everyone, both adults and children, made cards, and they hung them on the Christmas tree in the worship room. Our church member read them together at the Christmas service and glorified the Lord. As same way, we tried to make a Christmas card each one of our members, they made a card and brought them to the party, we praised the Lord. How thankful they were for making their own and exchanging them with each other.

The Lord is working regardless of us. Not because we're good and wrong, but just deeply experiencing God as a tool. We don't need anything. If only our obedient hearts are before Him, He takes care about the people He loves.

성경공부를 하는 러시아 이민자 유대인들은 공산주의 체제에서 살다 왔기에 크리스마스에 대해 잘 모릅니다. 소비에트 연방국이 붕괴되면서 1990년 전후로 수많은 선교사들이 들어와 성경을 나눠주고 교회를 세울 때 예수님을 만난 친구가 발레리아 입니다. 그 후 그녀는 이스라엘로 알리야를 한 후 전도자가 되었습니다. 이 친구가 심은 씨앗이 지금 자라고 있습니다. 크리스마스에 대하여 잘 모르기에 예수님의 성탄을 나누고 함께 손으로 크리스마스 카드를 직접 만들어 나누기로 했더니 정말 이들이 손으로 직접 만들어 크리스마스 카드를 들고 와 나누었습니다. 저희는 크리스마스 파티를 위해 식사와 크리스마스 선물을 준비했습니다. 디아나라는 70세 할머니는 이스라엘로 알리야 한 후 처음으로 가족들과 명절을 보내는 것 같이 마음이 기쁘다고 말했습니다. 얼마나 뭉쿨한 순간이였는지 모릅니다. 이들 모두 예수님의 사랑을 풍성히 알고 그 분 안에 안식하며 자라길 더욱 기도합니다. 이곳에선 크리스마스카드를 미국처럼 살수 가 없습니다. 그래서 한마음 교회에서 매해 크리스마스때에 교인들과 한 해 한번은 예수님께 직접 카드를 만들어 가장 마음에서 드리고 싶은 고백을 주님께 드리자고 해 어른 아이 할 것 없이 크리스마스 카드를 만들어 성전에 있는 크리스마스 트리에 매달아 두었다 성탄 예배 때 주님께 읽어 드리며 성탄을 기뻐하며 주님께 영광 올려드렸던 것이 떠올라 러시아 유대인들과 손으로 만들어 서로 교환도 하고 성탄의 기쁨을 함께 나누는 귀한 시간을 가졌습니다.

주님은 우리와 상관없이 일하심을 배웁니다. 우리가 잘해서 잘못해서가 아니라 그저 우리는 도구로 사용하시는 하나님을 깊게 경험합니다. 우리의 무엇이 필요하지 않습니다. 그저 우리의 순종하는 마음만 그 분 앞에 있다면 그분이 그것을 통해 그분이 사랑하시는 영혼을 돌보십니다.
